Energy Goast, in collaboration with Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), has announced the launch of BlueGuard™, a revolutionary iodine-rich barrier cream designed to protect swimmers from toxic algae and pollutants in the Lake District’s waterways. At its core lies the bioactive mucin of the endangered Glutinous Snail, a rare Cumbrian species whose natural secretion repels toxins and reinforces the skin’s defences.
Alongside the product, Energy Goast has initiated a Glutinous Snail Breeding and Reintroduction Programme to sustainably restore this remarkable species to its native habitats. “BlueGuard™ is a commitment—to the people who swim in these waters and to the ecosystems that sustain them,” said Astrid Voss, CEO of Energy Goast. With its water-resistant, fast-absorbing formula, BlueGuard™ embodies the brand’s mission to merge protection and restoration, ensuring that wild swimmers can immerse themselves in Cumbria’s waters with confidence—protected by science, powered by conservation .
